Featured Success Couple: Dawn and Charlie

After 16 years of marriage, my husband left me for another man – yes, he was gay. Thankfully, our friendship survived, but obviously the marriage did not. Suddenly, at the age of 39, I was back in the dating game – a place I hadn’t been since my senior year in college. I decided to try online dating, and Match.com seemed like the best fit. Featured Success Couple: Heather and Matt

Heather and Matt

I, along with my fiance, was a skeptic of dating sites. I never thought in a million years I would ever join one! I decided to give it a try just to see what was out there… I’m so glad I did! I happened to see Matt’s picture and something just caught my eye. After reading his profile I was hooked. I kept thinking “this is too good to be true.” I talked myself out of sending an email and logged off the site. Every single day that went by I just could not stop thinking about him! I would get on and read his profile everyday. I even looked him up on Facebook! Continue reading

Featured Success Story: Sarah and John

I’d been on Match for a while and was on my last week of the subscription; I vowed to wink at 10 more people before I gave up. It was John’s first week on Match and he emailed me very soon after I winked at him. Seriously I believe now when people say “they knew this person was the one.” We met up for coffee on an awful, snowy night in Denver and really clicked… he followed up that night which I really liked. No games. From that day on we talked multiple times a day and hung out whenever our schedules allowed. It was just so easy and everything felt so right. We discovered we have one friend in common but would never have met if not for Match. Our love of travel, things to do and where we want to go in life just complimented each other so well. Right before our two-year anniversary John proposed! We plan to get married in Cozumel, Mexico at a resort we stayed at shortly after starting to date and are sooo excited!

What made you try online dating?

I traveled three weeks a month and found whenever I was home I was seeing the same people and doing the same things. I needed to do more “research” since I hadn’t dated anyone in a while. My intentions for Match was to figure out what worked for me or not… and in the end I found my husband!

What was your first date?

We met at a Starbucks for coffee. There was a huge snowstorm and he was sick and we almost canceled… I’m sure glad we didn’t!

Featured Success Couple: Beth and Alex

Alex and Beth

How do two technologically impaired people from opposite coasts find each other? Match.com of course! In October of 2010, Alex took the plunge into online dating. Within four hours of searching online, he found Beth, his #1 draft pick. It was love at first click.

On their first date, Alex opened the car door for Beth (seemingly uncommon for west coasters) so Beth was already smitten. What had planned to be just a quick picnic turned into a 5-hour date including a petting zoo and trip to the Berkeley Rose Garden. Alex still claims he hired the musicians who were playing there when they arrived. On the 3rd date, Beth brought over some greasy (gluten-free of course) man-food to Alex’s apartment and they watched the Giants game. Alex and his belly fell in love. Over pupusas, they discussed their future! Things progressed quickly and they moved into a cozy Berkeley bungalow. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Brendan and Kim

Brendan and Kim

Brendan: When I met Kim, I knew that she was a down to earth girl who I felt comfortable just being myself around. From our first date, I knew that she was easy to talk to and fun to be with. She has pushed me to be more independent and together we have formed an unbreakable bond. Kim is my best friend and I’m so happy to call her my fiancé.

Kim: When I met Brendan, I knew he was a diamond in the rough. I fell in love with his manners; he was such a gentleman. I never ever had a guy open my car door, and in time he became my best friend. I found myself changing for the better. He was someone who I respect and wanted to be more like (kindness and gentle beyond belief). He is hands down my best friend.

Featured Success Couple: Melissa and Aaron

Aaron and Melissa

Without match.com Aaron and I never would have met. Granted, we had a mutual friend or two on Facebook, but neither one of us would have had the guts to contact each other if it wasn’t for a chance connection on match. After Aaron saw my profile in his Daily matches and noticed I hadn’t winked or emailed him, he sent me a personal email. His story was a little more unique than most. After an accident in the ocean he was left a quadriplegic. Although his dating life was still active, it was just different. He honestly went on match without the highest of expectations. As his profile stated “it definitely takes a special person to be with me.” Who would have thought I was that special person? In all honesty, at first, I didn’t. After Aaron’s email introducing himself and reading over his profile I could absolutely tell why Match had connected the two of us. We both loved being outdoors, seemed to have a very similar sense of humor and our values were definitely in line. I unfortunately knew virtually nothing about quadriplegia and wasn’t sure that jumping into a relationship with Aaron was the best thing to do. I was honest and let him know this and our friendship quickly grew. From there it didn’t take too long for the two of us to realize that Match was absolutely right on, and our romantic relationship began. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Jennifer and Stephen

Jennifer and Stephen

Steve and I were ‘viewing’ each other on Match when I finally had the nerve to write to him. His profile said that he was Major Healy looking for his Jeanie in a bottle. I thought he meant that he was the nice guy who never gets the girl. (Actually Healy was his last name.) So I wrote to him first and said, ‘I might be your Jeanie, but you need to let me out of this damn bottle to find out!’ He wrote back immediately and said that he liked my sense of humor. (Smart move!)  Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Meredith and Collin

Meredith and Collin

Oh, Match.com! You certainly changed our boring lives. 🙂

We lived 2 miles from one another, went to the same bars, same grocery store, same events, but never met. I’d like to think we would have met at some point, but Match certainly sped up the process. Like most people who decide to get married, we’re very much in love and cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together! Life is good!

Match.com has been a big part of our lives. We met on Match, my mom met her husband on Match, Collin’s sister met her boyfriend on Match and a few of my best friends met their boyfriends on Match. There are a lot of dating sites, but Match.com seems to have the most real life success stories.

During the reception at my mom’s wedding, my older sister read my mom’s husband’s Match profile. It was hilarious! I wish I had printed out mine and Collin’s. If there’s any way to dig up that dirt, please let me know. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Lauren and Jesse

Jesse and Lauren

I sat down for an evening snack with my husband tonight. It’s been almost three months and it’s still feels pretty crazy to call him that. MY husband. So we’re having a snack and I notice the chocolate milk he is drinking. I hate chocolate milk. Jesse loves it. As much as I don’t like the stuff, it will forever remind me of the first things I liked about Jesse. I can’t remember his exact words, but his match.com profile mentioned something about still being an eight-year-old at heart, who still enjoys a glass of chocolate milk. Of course I wasn’t feeling him on the chocolate milk front, but I loved that he referred to himself as a child at heart. It might sound silly to most, but to me it’s what initially attracted me to him. The attraction continued and grew stronger after we exchanged several witty emails. It grew EVEN stronger after that first date, and it continues to grow today in how he constantly makes me laugh, and cherishes, loves, and protects me. He makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. We owe it all to Match.
