Featured “Sports & Dating” Success Couple: Erin & Jude

As a part of our Sports & Dating feature we’d love to share with you a success story that was made possible by the love of sports throughout the entire relationship. Check out Erin & Jude’s success story below!

We emailed each other here on Match. Both of our Match.com profiles reflected our love of sports: Jude featured a picture of himself on television as his main profile pictures, and I stated in my profile text that her date “must love sports- even golf!” as my family loves to golf. Within days we started talking on the phone. We decided to go on our first date a week and a half later. On our first date, he picked me up at my house in Batavia, IL and we went out to dinner. Upon his arrival to my house, he didn’t realize I still lived with my parents. So he came up to the door and actually met my parents first!!!! If things could not funnier, after dinner on the way back to my house he got pulled over!!! Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Nina and Jeremy

Thank you Match.com, because of you I met my soul mate, received a kidney transplant, and have an amazingly life!

Jeremy and I were both new to Match. I was skeptical about online dating so I ignored most of the messages I received at first. It was only after Jeremy sent me a second email did I take the time to look at his profile and realized he was interesting. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Erin and Robert

My mom met her husband on Match. My sister met her husband on Match. As the only single woman left in my family, I signed up and started looking. I mean, it worked for all the other women in my family! My mom and my sister both got married to their Match.com men (one in 2000, one in 2008). My mom was engaged to her match after three weeks! Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Zach and Shelley

Being a single father of 3 and living in a community where I thought I knew everybody, I was ready to meet the woman of my dreams.  A friend of mine had met his wife online a few years ago so I said what the heck and I signed up. I met Shelley for the first time in a small coffee shop and it was literally love at first sight.  I was so taken back by her physical beauty and her presence that I could barely speak.  It turned out that we knew a lot of the same people and had many mutual friends.  After our first “date” I thought she wasn’t interested.  I told my mom, she is out of my league.   Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Adam and Angela

I hadn’t been on match.com for very long and only went on a couple dates. One thing that I tried to be true to was to make each email unique. The first email that I sent to Angela simply read “I absolutely love the way you described me in your summary of what you’re looking for.” Angela was ready to give up on match.com but took the advice of one of her friends and messaged me back. After exchanging a few emails and agreed to meet one night for drinks. We instantly clicked (from my perspective) and decided to go out again and again and again and again…  Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Lindsey and Dan

Lindsey and Dan

He found me and emailed me some form of generic, but sweet “hello.” He seemed interesting, but was way too young for my taste! I was looking for “the one” and in my mind there is no way a 26-year-old dentist could be ready in any capacity for what I was looking for. As a result I wrote back a teasing email giving what I would call a young “puppy” a hard time. I asked why he was “cougar chasing” on match.com. Not knowing me like he does now, he apologized for offending me (and says now that he thought I was bitter and grumpy). After explaining I was teasing, the witty banter began and quickly turned into rapid fire emails. Eventually that turned into long telephone conversations. I am rather cautious and kept fussing about his age, so it took him about 3 weeks to actually take him seriously enough to go on a date. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Heather and Matt

Heather and Matt

I, along with my fiance, was a skeptic of dating sites. I never thought in a million years I would ever join one! I decided to give it a try just to see what was out there… I’m so glad I did! I happened to see Matt’s picture and something just caught my eye. After reading his profile I was hooked. I kept thinking “this is too good to be true.” I talked myself out of sending an email and logged off the site. Every single day that went by I just could not stop thinking about him! I would get on and read his profile everyday. I even looked him up on Facebook! Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Jenny and John

I was a young professional just starting out in Columbus, OH and after coming out of a few unsuccessful relationships from college I was ready to meet someone completely new. I went out to lunch with a girlfriend who was also single for lunch to catch up. After a few glasses of wine, we joked about how we would be single forever and that we should just start online dating. We came back to my place after lunch and continued to talk about the what-if’s of online dating. I always said “oh, I’ll do that when I’m 35 and desperate” or “I’m 23, I’m too young for that, I’ll just meet someone out at a bar or concert.”

After thinking about it (for an hour), I finally said you know what, I’m going to do it. It’s not easy meeting new people at bars and restaurants. You don’t want to be that person that walks up to someone good looking at a grocery store to get their phone number while they’re trying to buy shredded cheese. Why not weed all the bad ones out and just “try it”? So that day, I filled out the survey and my friend and I laughed at the questions and didn’t take it very seriously at first. After an hour long interrogation of my hopes and aspirations of the man of your dreams… finally… YOUR MATCHES. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Melissa and Aaron

Aaron and Melissa

Without match.com Aaron and I never would have met. Granted, we had a mutual friend or two on Facebook, but neither one of us would have had the guts to contact each other if it wasn’t for a chance connection on match. After Aaron saw my profile in his Daily matches and noticed I hadn’t winked or emailed him, he sent me a personal email. His story was a little more unique than most. After an accident in the ocean he was left a quadriplegic. Although his dating life was still active, it was just different. He honestly went on match without the highest of expectations. As his profile stated “it definitely takes a special person to be with me.” Who would have thought I was that special person? In all honesty, at first, I didn’t. After Aaron’s email introducing himself and reading over his profile I could absolutely tell why Match had connected the two of us. We both loved being outdoors, seemed to have a very similar sense of humor and our values were definitely in line. I unfortunately knew virtually nothing about quadriplegia and wasn’t sure that jumping into a relationship with Aaron was the best thing to do. I was honest and let him know this and our friendship quickly grew. From there it didn’t take too long for the two of us to realize that Match was absolutely right on, and our romantic relationship began. Continue reading

Featured Success Couple: Joe and Jennifer

Joe and Jennifer

I was just ending my month on Match; I had been on and off match a few times. Jenn had just gotten out of a relationship and signed up for 3 months. We sent a few emails back and forth and decided to meet for a walk on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Halfway through that walk I looked at her and thought she was going to be my wife. The conversation flowed, we laughed and it was the strongest immediate connection I had ever had. At the end of the walk we hugged goodbye and after the fact she said she knew she would marry me as well. The crazy part of it all is we live 4 miles apart and would have never known if it weren’t for your site. Continue reading
