Featured Success Couple: Nina and Jeremy

Thank you Match.com, because of you I met my soul mate, received a kidney transplant, and have an amazingly life!

Jeremy and I were both new to Match. I was skeptical about online dating so I ignored most of the messages I received at first. It was only after Jeremy sent me a second email did I take the time to look at his profile and realized he was interesting. We exchanged phone numbers and before I knew it we were texting back and forth that same day. After a flurry of messages, we set a dinner date for that evening. We were both nervous for our first date with each other, let alone our first dates stemming from Match.com, but we hit it off right from the start. After our date, Jeremy and I decided that we wanted to see where this thing we had was heading. We continued seeing and getting to know each other. I found out about Jeremy’s passion for helping others and off-roading and he found out about my aspirations for law school and that I was on dialysis because of kidney disease.

Our relationship blossomed quickly and we were soon in love. After much contemplation, Jeremy was determined to give me one of his kidneys. However, organ matching is a precise science and the chances of a non-family member being a blood and antigen match is very rare. Jeremy was tested to see if there was a possibility of being a match, and miraculously he was. Jeremy made an amazing sacrifice in order for me to have a better quality of life. I received his transplant in June and we spent the better part of six weeks hobbling around together until we were fully healed. In July we took a four-wheeling trip to Colorado, where Jeremy proposed to me on top of a beautiful mountain. We’re planning our wedding for June 15, 2013. It’s a symbolic day for us. Our surgery was exactly one year prior where we became one in flesh, now we look forward to becoming one in marriage. In the meantime, Jeremy and I are more in love than ever. My new kidney has allowed me to attend my first year of law school without the stress of dialysis and Jeremy is back to work as a fireman.
